Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when you roast coffee beans?
A chemical reaction occurs when the beans are roasted and brought to a high temperature. Pressure builds inside the beans as the temperature rises and the water turns into gas. The beans are then quickly cooled once they reach their peak, making them weigh less with little to no moisture.
Do coffee beans expire?
We specialise in crafting unique and fresh roasted coffee beans in-house, offering customers seven signature flavours.
Our coffee beans are best used within 4 to 35 days. Always double-check our packaging for your blend’s use-by date, or contact us for further guidance.
How do you store roasted coffee beans?
As soon as you open your bag of coffee beans, the air exposure will automatically begin to change the flavour of the beans. Our fresh roasted coffee beans are best stored in an airtight container or canister. This seals and locks in the flavour, preventing the coffee oils from drying.
Should coffee beans be kept in the fridge?
Use roasted beans within 30 days of roast date. If you plan to use over a longer period,
pack in airtight bag and store in the freezer. When ready to use, take out freezer the night before and let them come to room temperature before you use them, avoid returning them to the freezer.
Temperature fluctuations and moisture condensation on cold beans will negatively affect the coffee.
What is roasted coffee sensitive to?
Roasted coffee beans are sensitive to light, moisture and air exposure. Heavy oxygen and carbon dioxide exposure will deteriorate the quality of the coffee beans and dilute the flavour.
