A bright, crisp Honduras

More about this bean...

COFFEE PROFILE

A clean and vibrant cup that highlights the bright, sweet character of Honduras’ high-grown Arabica. Aromas of cocoa, toasted nuts, and mild florals lead into flavours of caramel, red apple, and gentle citrus, complemented by a medium body and smooth, balanced finish. Certified organic, this coffee delivers the nuanced expression of origin while supporting sustainable farming practices.

About the Coffee

Honduras Organic SHG 69kg is sourced from smallholder farmers across the country’s prime coffee-growing regions, where high altitudes and fertile soils create ideal conditions for Arabica cultivation. Farms are typically 2–5 hectares in size and managed using organic practices, including natural fertilisation and intercropping with shade trees and companion crops to maintain biodiversity and soil health.

Cultivation and Processing

Grown at elevations between 1,300 and 1,700 masl, these coffees benefit from slow cherry maturation, which enhances sweetness, clarity, and complexity. Farmers cultivate mostly Caturra, Catuai, and Bourbon varietals, hand-picking only ripe cherries.

The lot is fully washed, with cherries depulped and fermented to remove mucilage before being sun-dried on patios or raised beds. This meticulous process ensures a clean, balanced cup that showcases the region’s characteristic brightness, sweetness, and medium body.

The Legacy of Coffee in Honduras

Coffee has long been central to rural livelihoods in Honduras, with smallholder farmers forming the backbone of the country’s production. Organic certification supports sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and economic resilience, enabling growers to access specialty markets while preserving the land for future generations.
