Certified Fairtrade and organic, this coffee delivers both flavour and ethical sourcing in every cup.

About the Coffee

Nicaragua Fairtrade Organic Washed is sourced from smallholder farmers across Nicaragua’s central highlands, where fertile volcanic soils and cool mountain climates support high-quality Arabica production. Farms are typically small, family-run operations that prioritise sustainable and organic practices, ensuring environmental stewardship while producing specialty-grade coffee.

Cultivation and Processing

Grown at elevations between 1,200 and 1,700 masl, this coffee benefits from slow cherry maturation, allowing sugars and flavours to develop fully. Farmers cultivate primarily Caturra, Bourbon, and Typica varietals, carefully hand-picking only ripe cherries.

After harvest, cherries are fully washed, fermented to remove mucilage, and sun-dried on patios or raised beds. This method enhances clarity, sweetness, and body, resulting in a clean, balanced cup that highlights the region’s distinctive expression.

The Legacy of Coffee in Nicaragua

Coffee cultivation is central to Nicaragua’s rural communities, providing livelihoods and supporting local economies. Fairtrade certification ensures farmers receive a fair price for their crops and promotes sustainable development projects, while organic practices preserve biodiversity and soil health. Coffees like this demonstrate the potential of Nicaragua to produce high-quality, ethically sourced coffees that are both delicious and responsible.
